House of Cats

In the middle of her last year as an undergraduate, Robert started dating another girl.
A few weeks later he told Dominique that he was in love, and that they would need to separate.
Separate.
At first she had just told him that she loved him as a part of the relationship. The she liked what he did for her sexually, and then she fell in love with him for real. It had been a falling in love that was complete before it was realized. And it could have lasted forever.
But the tree was struck by lightning, and it burned to the ground.
She had money. She had found another line of work that paid better than working as a waitress at the bar. Two thousand dollars a night.

She trace the red lines around the perimeters of her lips, then she slid the dark red lipstick over them, perfectly. She looked at her mascara. Perfect. And the gradients of brown over her eyes were beautiful too.
Black fishnet stockings. Black stiletto heels. A black mink coat.
She picked up her briefcase and headed for the door.
A taxi took her to a park, and then she waited for the black limosine that took her to the House of Cats.
The gentleman she was to meet arrived five minutes later.
"You are beautiful." He told her.
"Thank you. I brought the information you requested," she replied, and she opened her briefcase and took out a stack of papers.
"I bought you a calculator," he said.
"Thank you," she smiled. "But I already have one that works well."
"Darling, this calculator talks, and I've had it programmed to teach you all the things about business you need to learn."
"I do wish I could have taken more business courses. But it's time for me to go to graduate school."

"I'll have Phillip look over these documents you've given me, but I think this is enough to start the company. Thank you for all the hard work you did to make this possible."
"It was a pleasure doing business with you, sir."
